E3 Consulting’s Managing Director Alun Oliver FRICS was among the experts at a leading national conference being held virtually on April 13 and 14.

He spoke about Land Remediation at the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors’ (RICS) 2021 Minerals and Waste Management Conference.

Alun gave a presentation about Land Remediation Tax Relief (LRTR), which is often overlooked and underclaimed by developers and owners, costing them money!

It included case studies and insights into how this fiscal incentive can be used to breathe new life into challenging sites affected by contamination or long-term dereliction.

Subjects covered include:

  • Potential for up to 150 per cent tax relief.
  • Remediation approaches – containment, removal and/or treatment
  • Asbestos, hydrocarbons, Japanese Knotweed, Arsenic, Radon and other substances

Alun, who is a Fellow of RICS, spoke in the late morning slot on day two of the virtual event. It was previously known as the ‘RICS Environment and Resources Conference’.

This year’s conference wastitled ‘The future of the minerals and waste management sectors in the UK’.

Surveyors, developers and professionals from construction and property related sectors were among those attending.

Alun was joined by other national experts speaking about subjects as the role of minerals in the UK economy, guidance about waste leases, environmental law, renewable energy, concrete and sustainability and hydrogen.
