Cyber Essentials represents the UK Government’s minimum baseline standard for cyber security for organisations of all sizes in the UK, albeit it is particularly aimed at SME businesses. The annually renewable certification scheme is aligned to five technical controls designed to prevent the most common internet-based cyber security threats. The five technical controls that are assessed are secure configuration, user access control, malware protection, security update management and Firewalls.

Cyber Essentials certification demonstrates that an organisation is being active protecting itself by implementing the most important cyber security controls. It is 10 years since cyber essentials was launched, its aim has always been to protect a business from cyber-attacks, also to educate a business owner, its directors & staff, with deep learning and understanding being a key part of good security practice and to become embedded part of day to day practise and certification, reviews a companies cyber security stance against an agreed standard framework.

A team of experts reviews the scheme at regular intervals, to ensure it stays effective in the ever-evolving threat landscape.
