Think Positive

Another important factor in having a healthy and constructive attitude is to actively seek out and embrace both the positives (and negatives) in any situation.  Having a positive outlook will enable you to look back on all your key experiences, both positive and negative, and you can fully reflect upon them and then put any changes into practice.  A positive attitude will help you to see the true value in everything that you do.  For example, when looking at a job, collecting as much quality information as you can from as many sources as possible, allows you to validate your opinion as to whether you are truly motivated and suited for that role.  This will help you to decide either to continue with your application for that role and the company, or to withdraw yourself from that recruitment process altogether.

Your focus should usually be on what is useful and helpful to yourself and those around you – obviously you do not have to feel positive about everything all the time as this is not realistic.  Nevertheless, even in negative and challenging situations, you will benefit by learning from your experiences and putting what you have learnt into practice on a day to day basis.  Henry Ford, businessman and founder of Ford motors, highlighted the importance of being positive, saying ‘If you say you can or you can’t you are right either way’.
