Our Marketing and HR Executive, Zoe Toseland, has recently started a Chartered Management Degree Apprenticeship (CMDA) at Southampton Solent University (SSU).

The course focuses on leadership and management skills including personal development, combining a BA (Hons) Business Management degree alongside professional accreditation opportunities, including Chartered Manager status from the Chartered Management Institute (CMI).  This is delivered through an apprenticeship blended learning mode of study, integrating theory with real-world “on the job” training, with units covering Personal and Professional Development, Strategic Management, Project Management in Business, Human Resource Management and culminating in a business project.   This will support with developing further her academic knowledge as well as building her transferable skills, commercial outlook and practical business knowledge.

Zoe is completing this through this new innovative and fast track CMDA apprenticeship, which allows you to complete in eighteen months by consolidating prior learning developed in the work place.   The SSU Course Leader, Claire Hughes, explained that “The SSU CMDA course was designed to be flexible to support apprentices to study and work at the same time” and outlined that another added value of studying the SSU CMDA was the “introduction to a network of apprentices from a wide range of sectors, industries and job roles to share best practice in management and leadership areas.”

The CMI’s mission is to increase the number and standard of professionally qualified managers in order to have better led and managed organisations.  The CMDA supports those with management responsibilities, and strategic responsibility for people, projects, operations or services, and deliver long term organisational success.

The knowledge and learning Zoe will gain throughout her studies will help her further develop within her role at E3. The course is an opportunity for her to consolidate her existing learning as well as up-skill by developing her leadership and management skills within her role.  These can in turn be applied within the business and will be contributing to evolving the business.

It is also an opportunity to further build our engagement with Southampton Solent University, where several members of the E3 team have been involved in their mentoring programme as well as participated in other activities including career talks and fairs.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed what I have done so far on the CMDA and it has already help to deepen my understanding in a range of business areas. It has also been interesting to meet the rest of my cohort and appreciate the range of roles and businesses they come from.” Zoe Toseland
